Bring Her Back: A Visceral New Horror

Losing someone close to you is undoubtedly one of the most tragic experiences a person can endure. It brings on an excruciating pain that carves a hole nothing seems to fill. But what if there were a way to bring them back? And what if, in doing so, you invited something far more terrifying than death itself? “Bring Her Back”, the latest psychological horror from Danny and Michael Philippou, explores the raw desperation of loss and the sinister cost of defying it. Set in a secluded foster home with secrets soaked in blood and ritual, this A24-backed nightmare pulls you into a world where the line between grief and madness becomes obliterated, and the trailer looks downright terrifying.

The trailer is a haunting montage that begins innocuously with a startled cat, quickly descending into a series of unsettling images. A girl with a black eye, a convulsing body on pebbles, and a mother haunted by the loss of her child, pressing a bloodied hand against a window. The rapid-fire editing, paired with an eerie score that crescendos into chaos, leaves viewers unsettled yet hooked. This eerie tale follows a brother and sister lured into a sinister foster home where grief, guilt, and the occult blur into a terrifying reality

Two-time Oscar nominee Sally Hawkins plays the role of the foster mother, and the trailer shows her engaging in all sorts of foreboding activities, claiming she can bring someone back from the dead. She even claims she’s spoken with an angel.”It’s a beautiful angel,” she continues. “It does beautiful things. Not spooky at all! The trailer also features camcorder footage of what appears to be a resurrection ritual, complete with a chalk circle and a bloody corpse taking a new breath. A rather unnerving yet intriguing scene.

Sally Hawkins is joined by Billy Barratt, Sora Wong, Jonah Wren Phillips , Sally-Anne Upton and Stephen Phillips in what looks like a totally freaky and seriously unsettling movie. The screenplay is written by Bill Hinzman and Danny Philippou and is Produced by Kristina Ceyton & Samantha Jennings.

It’s been a year of creative freedom, storytelling, and loving what I do—plus the occasional dramatic reaction to plot twists. No more meetings, just movies—and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
