Have You ever laughed so hard that you make that weird silent wheeze like a broken kettle? Or cry actual tears because someone said, “I love lamp”? Then you, dear reader, are in the right place. Comedy is the glue that holds our sanity together when the world feels like it’s been written by clowns on Red Bull. From clueless teens on a quest for beer to grown men building bunk beds for more “activities,” we’ve ranked the 20 best comedies that will leave your abs sore, your cheeks aching, and your brain quoting nonsense for days. These aren’t just funny movies. These are full-body-exercise, almost-choked-on-my-popcorn, “pause it, I can’t breathe” kind of funny.

Get ready for belly laughs, snorts, and scenes you’ll rewind just to laugh again.

    1. Superbad (2007)

Why it’s #1: A high school comedy so quotable, it basically raised a generation. Jonah Hill and Michael Cera’s chaotic friendship is hilariously authentic.

    2. Bridesmaids (2011)

Kristen Wiig’s meltdown. The airplane scene. The diarrhea in a wedding dress. Enough said. Female-led comedy gold that never stops delivering.

    3. The Hangover (2009)

One bachelor party in Vegas turns into a mystery, complete with a tiger, a missing tooth, and Mike Tyson. Raunchy, ridiculous, and unforgettable.

    4. Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004)

Will Ferrell’s newsman is 60% of the time funny every time. It’s absurd, quotable, and so weird it works perfectly.

    5. Step Brothers (2008)

Two grown men become stepbrothers and chaos follows. Ferrell and John C. Reilly make immaturity look like an Olympic sport.

    6. Tropic Thunder (2008)

Actors lost in the jungle filming a war movie… that turns real. Wild, meta, and brilliantly offensive (in the smartest way).

    7. Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975)

British absurdity at its best. Killer rabbits. Coconut horses. It’s a classic for a reason, utterly mad and still laugh-out-loud.

    8. Mean Girls (2004)

Teen comedy meets razor-sharp wit. Tina Fey’s script is iconic, and every scene has at least one line that became pop culture legend.

    9. Dumb and Dumber (1994)

Two of the dumbest guys in cinema history take a cross-country trip. Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are completely fearless.

    10. Borat (2006)

Sacha Baron Cohen’s mockumentary shocked, offended, and split sides. Equal parts genius and jaw-droppingly outrageous.

    11. Shaun of the Dead (2004)

It’s a zombie apocalypse… but British. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost mix gore and gags like a fine bloody cocktail.

    12. 21 Jump Street (2012)

Channing Tatum proves he’s hilarious. Jonah Hill doubles down. This high school undercover cop remake is way funnier than it had any right to be.

    13. Airplane! (1980)

A spoof so packed with puns, visual gags, and absurd jokes, you’ll catch new laughs every time. Surely it belongs on this list (and don’t call us Shirley).

    14. The Nice Guys (2016)

Underrated buddy comedy gem. Ryan Gosling’s physical comedy + Russell Crowe’s tough guy act = stylish 70s-era hilarity.

    15. Horrible Bosses (2011)

Three guys plot to kill their terrible bosses. What could go wrong? A lot, hilariously so.

    16. Booksmart (2019)

Think Superbad but with girls, a smarter twist, and equally chaotic best-friend energy. Olivia Wilde’s directorial debut hits hard and funny.

    17. This Is Spinal Tap (1984)

The mockumentary that turned it up to 11. A send-up of rock ‘n roll culture so real, many thought the band was legit.

    18. Zoolander (2001)

Derek Zoolander is really, really, ridiculously good looking… and even more ridiculously stupid. A cult classic in the world of male models and brainwashing.

    19. Office Space (1999)

Every 9-to-5er’s fantasy: quit the job, destroy the printer, and embrace absurdity. Dry, subtle, and endlessly quotable.

    20. Napoleon Dynamite (2004)

It’s awkward. It’s weird. It’s full of llamas and dance routines. But this low-key comedy has an undeniable charm and cult status.
