South African rapper Lehlogonolo Chauke who performs under the stage name Shebeshxt expressed his deep sorrow because of the death of his nine-year-old daughter Onthatile. Shebeshxt together with his partner Kholofelo Moloto and their daughter Onthatile faced a fatal car accident on June 8, 2024 during their journey to a music show.
Shebeshxt and Moloto survived the accident with injuries but Onthatile died from her injuries. The rapper has openly discussed how the incident has caused him immense emotional distress.
Shebeshxt appeared on the E4 Podcast to discuss his deep sorrow in an honest interview. “My heart is broken. I attempt to maintain strength yet it proves extremely difficult. The loss of a child remains a constant pain because you both created them and lived for them. The pain stays with me throughout every day and each moment of my existence.
He changed his tattoo design from “hustle hard” to “heartbroken” as a demonstration of his grief.
He found solace in faith by stating “You need to surrender your pain to God at times.”

The artist maintains open communication with his fans about his ongoing struggles through social media platforms. He expressed his deep sorrow about losing his daughter through these words: “The pain of losing my daughter, neh? I maintain a strong exterior yet I cry every night before sleeping. This pain will stay with me until my death.
He stated in another tribute that even though she is not physically present he believes she remains with him spiritually. She is my angel. My daughter Onthatile holds the position of both my angel and my life.
Shebeshxt has started working again yet he acknowledges that his life will never be the same. According to him the loss will stay with him throughout his entire life.
