TECNO SPARK Go 2S Lands in South Africa – Big Specs, Small Price

Budget phones usually come with a long list of compromises, but TECNO’s latest entry-level device is trying to change that narrative. The SPARK Go 2S, now available in South Africa, is throwing some surprisingly premium touches into the mix without torching your wallet.

    What You’re Getting for R1,399

For starters, TECNO isn’t skimping on the basics. The SPARK Go 2S ships with:

    • 128GB of storage (yes, at this price) for all your photos, TikToks, and the WhatsApp groups you’ll never mute.
    • A 5,000mAh battery, which TECNO claims will keep you going through the day with ease. It also supports 10W charging—not blazing fast, but fair for this tier.
    • A 6.67-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate. That’s a spec we’re used to seeing on mid-range devices, so it’s refreshing—literally—to see it trickle down.

Cameras are kept modest: a 13MP dual rear setup and an 8MP selfie shooter. Not groundbreaking, but they should be solid enough for casual snaps and video calls.

A Design That Wants to Last

Beyond numbers, TECNO has given the SPARK Go 2S an IP64 rating, meaning it’ll shrug off dust and light splashes. In a market where most budget phones crumble at the first sign of rain, that’s a welcome bit of peace of mind.

The phone also comes bundled with a few extras: a protective cover, USB cable, charging brick, and SIM card pin. No “BYO accessories” nonsense here.

    Availability and Price

You can grab the TECNO SPARK Go 2S now at TFG stores for just R1,399. Stock will vary by store, and TECNO’s broader range—including the SPARK 20 Series—is also available at major retailers like Ackermans, Game, Makro, Mr Price, Vodacom, and even Pick n Pay.

    Geekhub’s Take

At this price point, the SPARK Go 2S is aimed squarely at first-time smartphone buyers or anyone who wants a reliable backup device without overspending. The 120Hz screen is the real curveball here, pushing expectations for what an entry-level phone can deliver.

We’ll reserve judgment until we get hands-on time, but on paper, TECNO’s latest looks like one of the most compelling budget phones South Africans can buy right now.
