Looking for a game where you physically become the hunted, well look no further. New game maker Allan Hedlund brings you Eyes Never Wake, the ultimate horror game for fans looking for something a little more immersive in the horror gaming space. There is no need to imagine anymore, cos the giant monster will relentlessly pursue the player. Every time it comes on screen, the player has to duck under the desk, as the monster can see the player’s face via webcam and will seize them if they’re spotted. Be prepared for the creature that lurks in the shadows, watching you through your device’s webcam. Eyes Never Wake integrates physical interaction, and yes, if the player fails to stay still, you are toast.
The game features intense chase sequences, requiring you to play hide and come seek. The player needs to stay out of view of the creature that is claws its way toward you. It also breaks the fourth wall, incorporating your face into the experience in unexpected ways. “This AI-driven entity will do anything in its power to see your face. Every corner you turn is a chance for it to catch you.
Sound plays a crucial role. Your microphone stays on, allowing the monster to hear you, breathing may not be an option here. Listen closely, stay quiet, and be ready to hide your face at all costs,” said the game’s description.
When the game was announced on X, many users had concerns regarding privacy with the game’s usage of the webcam and microphone. However, the game’s Steam page specifies that the developer uses the webcam only for in-game purposes and does not collect any images or data.
The developer has assured commenters that no data is uploaded, so a player’s identity and image aren’t copied or shared in any way. Those who have privacy concerns when streaming, like VTubers, will be able to prevent the game from displaying their faces while still using the webcam functionality. Lastly, if a player so chooses, they can play the game without a webcam entirely, though it’s not entirely clear how that will work.
The game release date is yet to be confirmed, and once confirmed will be available on Steam.
