How far would you go for justice? And at what cost? The trailer for “Redux Redux” was recently reviewed at the SXSW Film Festival, takes us on a journey of a mother where no amount of revenge is enough. Buckle up because this one’s a mind-bender. Imagine being trapped in an endless cycle of vengeance, hopping through parallel universes, trying to right a wrong that can never truly be undone. That’s the emotional gut-punch waiting for us in Redux Redux.

We meet Michaela McManus playing the role of Irene Kelly, a mother consumed by grief over the death of her daughter. She is on a relentless quest for vengeance, taking justice into her own hands, she repeatedly confronts her daughter’s murderer, across parallel universes. She’s deep in the cycle, relentlessly hunting down and eliminating Neville (Jeremy Holm) over and over again.

Her fury burns just as fiercely as the fresh cuts and bruises on her face, despite the staggering reality: she’s killed this same man nearly a thousand times. But even with all that experience, her quest is anything but safe. Every kill brings the risk of getting caught or worse, not making it out alive. And as the body count rises, subtle shifts between universes begin to throw devastating obstacles in her path. Obstacles that could either break her murderous obsession or strip away what’s left of her humanity. And from what we’ve seen in the trailer, this isn’t just another multiverse gimmick. This is raw, emotional, and absolutely gripping.

As the plot further unfolds, we see a much needed shift, brought by Stella Marcus. Her pivotal performance alters the film’s heavy tone, influencing change within Irene by adding another dilemma for Irene. Will Irene opt for revenge or redemption? Stella’s character Mia brings a portal-hopping road trip vibe to Irene’s adventure, lightening an insurmountably bleak first act about vigilante justice. Stella and Michaela share a strong intergenerational chemistry that launches Redux Redux to another level, but never by totally abandons the  dark themes.

Brought to you by The McManus Brothers, this is a must-watch, with critics praising the emotional weight behind the sci-fi concept. Hailed as a riveting revenge thriller with two powerhouse female leads, it is slick, sobering, and dreadfully tense. And let’s be real, that’s exactly the kind of energy we want in a revenge-driven sci-fi. The trailer promises a thought-provoking and emotionally charged cinematic experience that explores the boundaries of grief, obsession, and the human condition within a sci-fi framework.

After 28 years in corporate life, I swapped spreadsheets for screenplays and now write movie reviews and celebrity articles for Geekhub. It’s been a year of creative freedom, storytelling, and loving what I do—plus the occasional dramatic reaction to plot twists. No more meetings, just movies—and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
