Universal Pictures is set to bring the iconic Archie Comics characters to the big screen in a new live-action film, with Spider-Verse franchise producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller leading the project.The project aims to modernise the beloved characters while staying true to the charm and humour that has made Archie Andrews, Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge, Jughead Jones, and the rest of the Riverdale gang cultural staples for decades.
The upcoming film is expected to offer a fresh perspective on the classic Archie Comics, introducing the characters to a new generation of viewers. Tom King, known for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, is set to write the screenplay for the untitled Archie film, although details about the plot are scarce. The project was brought to Lord and Miller by producer Emma Watts, who will also produce. Archie Comics CEO and publisher Jon Goldwater, along with Aditya Sood, president of Lord Miller, will serve as producers.
