There has been much speculation about the release of “Michael”, and word has it that a release date has been finally set for October 23 2025, six months later than was previously anticipated. The Michael Jackson biopic is set to allow the fans to trace the life and career of the complex singer that became known as the King of Pop.
The film comes on the back of the highly successful, Broadway’s MJ: The Musical, that took audiences inside Jackson’s creative process, depicting the singer rehearsing for his 1992 Dangerous world tour, and featured over 25 of the singer’s biggest hits.
Directed by Antoine Fuqua, written by Oscar nominee and Tony winner John Logan and produced by Graham King, audiences will journey into the childhood star of the Jackson 5, the alleged abuse at the hands of his father Joe Jackson, to achieving phenomenal success with “Thriller”, his purchase of Neverland Valley, and his untimely death on June 25, 2009, that shocked the world and left a void in the hearts of millions.
Michael Jackson, the icon of the pop industry will be played by 9-year-old Juliano Krue Valdi had been cast to portray a young Jackson, since the film covers his rise to fame with his brothers in the Jackson 5. Juanito will later be replaced by Michael’s 27 year old nephew and the son of his brother Jermaine Jackson, Jaafar Jackson depicting his later years.
The film showcases, Michael’s triumphs, personal struggles, creative genius, philantrophy and his electrifying performances, with an inside look into, one of the most influencial global icons that revolutionised pop music, despite the controversy that clouded his years later.
Members of the cast include, Oscar-nominated actor Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson, Nia Long as Katherine Jackson, Jayden Harville and Jamal R. Henderson as Jermaine, Jaylen Lyndon Hunter and Tre Horton as Marlon, Judah Edwards and Rhyan Hill as Tito and Nathaniel Logan McIntyre and Joseph David-Jones as Jackie. Miles Teller is also set to play John Branca, who became Michael’s manager after Joe Jackson, and was instrumental in helping launch his early career as a solo artist
