Oops! Mattel’s Wicked Dolls Package Featured Link To Porn Site!

Gearing up for the festive season means, planning the ideal getaways,  embracing downtime and looking for the perfect gifts for your family and friends, especially the little ones that fill our lives with love, laughter and joy.

In line with this, many individuals in the United States set out to buy the latest set of dolls called ‘Wicked Dolls”, that were released by Mattel ahead of the launch of the Wicked film, an adaptation of the Tony award winning Broadway musical. The story is a prequel to “The Wizard of Oz” and tells an alternate version of events before Dorothy Gale’s arrival. The highly anticipated two-part movie, starring singer Ariana Grande and Oscar nominated actress, Cynthia Erivo, is scheduled for a U.S. theatrical release on November 22nd.

Much to the surprise of these poor souls, the website printed on the box of the special edition dolls, intended to direct customers to the movie’s official landing page, instead directed them to a pornographic website that shares the same name as the forthcoming movie.

The issue came to the attention of Mattel over the weekend, however it was unclear as to how many of the doll boxes beared the misprint. Mattel has since apologised for mishap, and is taking action in removing the misprinted packaging. “We deeply regret this unfortunate error and are taking immediate action to remedy this,” the toy company said in a statement to CNN

Mattel, has advised, those that have already purchased the dolls, to discard the packaging.

While Mattel sorts out this “wicked” little website mishap, maybe those little ones who fill our lives with “love, laughter, and joy” will be just as happy with a good old-fashioned teddy bear this year. Just to be safe!
