Unicorns have been inspiring and captivating human imagination for centuries. They embody hope, transformation, and the belief in something greater than ourselves, making them timeless figures in storytelling with their sparkle, mystery and magic. But a dark side lurks in these fantastic creatures that is hard to imagine. Now A24 and director, Alex Scharfman brings you “Death Of A Unicorn”, a story that revolves around a father and daughter who are headed to a weekend getaway with his billionaire boss when they accidentally hit and seemingly kill  a Unicorn with their car. What unravels is a horror comedy.

Featuring a cast led by Jenna Ortega (Ridley) famous for Netflix’s Wednesday, and Paul Rudd (Elliot), as well as Richard E. Grant who stars as the billionaire boss. The story unfolds when the boss and his wealthy family discover the unicorn, and seek to exploit its magical properties. All this when they realise that the unicorn’s blood and shavings from its horn can cure cancer. But all they manage to do is unleash the wrath of the Mother of the injured Unicorn in the events that follow.

The trailer promises what looks like an exhilarating horror, with sneak peek at the film’s darker, monster-filled side. And let’s just say, this isn’t your average sparkly unicorn. A Unicorn, reimagined as something far more complex and ominous, adding a layer of intrigue to the narrative. In fact, after seeing the trailer, calling the movie “Revenge OF The Unicorn” might have been a more apt name. Who would have thought, that a Unicorn could be anything else but magnificent in every way.

Adding to the cast is Téa Leoni , Anthony Carrigan, Sunita Mani, Jessica Hynes, Stephen Park and let’s not forget Will Poulter who will have you in stitches with his hilarious one-liners, playing on the comedic aspect of the movie.

“Death of a Unicorn” promises to challenge everything you thought you knew about Unicorns. The movie blends horror, comedy, and fantasy into a unique cinematic cocktail and will premier at a cinema near you on the 28th March.  So mark your calendar’s to watch an unforgettable Unicorn story unlike any you’ve seen before.

After 28 years in corporate life, I swapped spreadsheets for screenplays and now write movie reviews and celebrity articles for Geekhub. It’s been a year of creative freedom, storytelling, and loving what I do—plus the occasional dramatic reaction to plot twists. No more meetings, just movies—and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
