Are you looking for some action in the month of love? Well look no further, Universal Pictures brings you an emotionally charged action comedy “Love Hurts” that is due to premier on the 7th February at a cinema near you.

The quotes “looks can be deceiving, or never judge a book by its cover” relate to Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All at Once, Loki) who stars as Marvin Gable, working the Milwaukee suburbs. A seemingly happy, mild-mannered, top selling realtor. But don’t be fooled there is a lot more that lies beneath the surface. The trailer portrays Marvin as a man with a quiet life, when he receives a letter from a blast from his past played by Ariana DeBose (West Side Story, Argylle) and turmoil ensues.

Rose, a former partner-in-crime that Marvin had left for dead, is back to remind him that hiding ain’t living. Well, that marks the end of his peaceful life, fragmented by pieces of glass that are sharp enough to shatter his carefully constructed peace. Marvin’s past catches up with him and the consequences are explosive. We see him being hauled back into the crime ridden world of assassins, double-crossers and cutthroats that will stop at nothing until he is face-to-face with his brother, the crime lord Knuckles played by Daniel Wu (Tomb Raider, Warcraft). Marvin must fight for his survival while confronting the choices that haunt him and the history he never truly buried.

Adding to cast is Marshawn Lynch, Mustafa Shakir, Lio Tipton, Rhys Darby, André Eriksen, and Sean Astin. The movie is directed  by Jonathan Eusebio, the acclaimed veteran stunt coordinator and fight coordinator whose credits include some of the greatest action films of the past decade including Black Panther, The Avengers, the John Wick films, The Matrix Resurrections, Violent Night, The Fall Guy and Deadpool 2. and is produced by 87 North action team. Further to this the film is produced by the 87 North action team that brought you Nobody, Atomic Blonde, Bullet Train, and The Fall Guy. So you can be assured of  thrilling action and witty humour.

For some thrilling action and humour, be sure not to miss “Love Hurts”. Love, a word that whispers promises of warmth and connection, can also echo with the sharp sting of betrayal and heartbreak.

After 28 years in corporate life, I swapped spreadsheets for screenplays and now write movie reviews and celebrity articles for Geekhub. It’s been a year of creative freedom, storytelling, and loving what I do—plus the occasional dramatic reaction to plot twists. No more meetings, just movies—and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
