Since the release of the iPhone 12 series, there has been no significant changes in terms of design. It’s very much of the same old, same old. However this year, that may all change if the new leaks are to be believed, and it’s about time!
The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are expected to undergo a major face lift that will be more in line with Google Pixels lineup, at least that’s the last round of rumours that have hit the grapevine lately. Majin Bu, recently shared CAD renders of the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max and the rumoured iPhone 17 Air, revealing a striking new camera design.

Based on the renders, the Pro and Air models will sport a broader, pill-shaped camera bar extending across the upper part of the device. This will replace Apple’s iconic square camera module. The iPhone 17 Air adopts a similar design but features a single rear camera lens, while the standard iPhone 17 maintains the classic look of its predecessors.
Rumours about an iPhone 17 Air has been making the rounds for months. It is speculated to be a slimmer alternative replacing the Plus variant. Reports indicate it may come with a titanium frame, setting it apart from the Pro models, which are expected to revert to aluminium. We saw the incorporation of titanium in the iPhone 15 Pro lineup, but supply chain analyst Jeff Pu suggests that environmental considerations could be prompting the company to shift back to aluminium for the iPhone 17 Pro models.
With the new lineup just 7 months away, and the leaks continuing to stream in, the iPhone 17 series could mark one of Apple’s most dramatic design shifts in years.
