Blumhouse’s ‘The Woman in the Yard’ trailer reveals a chilling new terror

A solitary, ghostly figure draped entirely in black mysteriously appears on a family’s front lawn, delivering an ominous warning: “Today’s the day.” Who is she? What does she want? When will she leave? Only The Woman in the Yard holds the answers. Watch the second official trailer for Universal & Blumhouse’s upcoming horror thriller, offering a chilling glimpse into the supernatural nightmare that awaits a fractured family.

The trailer follows a family who discovers a veiled woman, dressed entirely in black, sitting in their yard. Though they try to confront her and drive her away, she remains, settled in her seat.  An unsettling apparition that gradually makes her way into their home. As she draws closer  it becomes clear she is no ordinary figure and her intentions are anything but peaceful.

Like the first “Woman in the Yard” trailer released in January, the second trailer keeps much of the film shrouded in mystery. Nobody knows where she came from, what she wants, and when she will leave. When Danielle Deadwyler’s character, Ramona, confronts the woman and insists her husband will be home soon, the eerie figure responds, “We both know your husband’s not coming home,” as a wrecked car appears on the lawn. She then adds, “I don’t come unless I’m called,” revealing blood-stained hands. With an eerie excitement, she declares, “Today’s the day.”

When Ramona’s son (Peyton Jackson) aims a shotgun at the woman, she replies with a chilling smile, “You children are such darlings, ripe enough to eat.” As she inches closer to the house, Ramona comes to a realisation: “She needs the light to make a shadow,” hinting at a possible way to stop her. Yet, despite this discovery, the woman eventually makes her way inside. In a haunting voiceover, she whispers, “You’ve been praying for me. Let me help you like you asked me to,” just as the scene cuts to Ramona and her husband  caught in a car accident.

The trailer hints that before the woman’s eerie arrival, Ramona and her husband were in a car accident that claimed his life. Subtle clues suggest that Ramona may have unknowingly summoned the mysterious figure to her home. “The Woman in the Yard” teases a sinister supernatural force bound to grief, regret, and a dark bargain. Will Ramona and her children find a way to escape before it consumes them?

The cast includes Danielle Deadwyler, Russell Hornsby, Peyton Jackson, and Estella Kahiha as the family and Okwui Okpokwasili as the woman. The new Blumhouse horror movie is Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, known for the horror films House of Wax, Orphan, and The Shallows.
