Deep Cover: If You Want To Survive, Improvise

Ever had one of those days where you wake up, look in the mirror, and ask yourself, “Am I the good guy… or just really good at pretending to be one? Deep Cover debuting 12th June on Prime Video, is here to remind you that lying, cheating, and shooting your way through the criminal underworld might actually be… a career move. Check out the trailer, and let’s just say, if you like your heroes morally conflicted and your villains weirdly charismatic, you’re in for a dangerously smooth ride.

Deep Cover centres on Kat (Bryce Dallas Howard), a struggling improv teacher who thinks she’s missed her shot at success. But things change when she is recruited by an undercover cop.  Detective Sergeant DS Billings (Sean Bean) ropes her into a dangerous scheme, offering her what she thinks is the “role of a lifetime.” Instead of a part on stage, she’s tasked with impersonating criminals as they try to stop crime in London.

Desperate but intrigued, she recruits two of her quirky students, Marlon (Orlando Bloom) and Hugh (Nick Mohammed), to join her in the absurd sting operation and the trio soon find themselves in way over their heads. Together, they must improvise their way into a criminal gang, navigating the dark London underworld while using their acting talents to stay one step ahead. After agreeing to take on the job, a combination of hilarity and action ensues as they get involved in drugs, chase scenes, and more…much, much more.

The supporting cast includes Paddy Considine, Ian McShane, Sonoya Mizuno, and Freya Parker. Deep Cover is directed by Tom Kingsley and based on a screenplay co-written by Colin Trevorrow, Alexander Owen, Derek Connolly, and Ben Ashenden. The upcoming fast-paced action comedy is dark, sharp, and laced with irony.

After 28 years in corporate life, I swapped spreadsheets for screenplays and now write movie reviews and celebrity articles for Geekhub. It’s been a year of creative freedom, storytelling, and loving what I do—plus the occasional dramatic reaction to plot twists. No more meetings, just movies—and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
