They’re back and badder than ever. After charming audiences with their slick style and surprisingly sweet story in 2022, DreamWorks’ lovable gang of reformed criminals returns for another round of high-stakes heists, chaotic camaraderie, and unexpected heart in The Bad Guys 2. Set to hit theatres on August 1, 2025, this animated sequel cranks up the action, the laughs, and brings new faces, fresh twists, and even bigger adventures. But does it live up to the clever charm of the original—or is this one job the crew can’t pull off?

“Everyone’s favourite felons are back, and this time, they’ve got company,”. The Bad Guys are struggling to find trust and acceptance in their newly minted lives as Good Guys, when they are pulled out of retirement and forced to do “one last job” by an all-female squad of criminals, known as The Bad Girls. A teaser trailer launched this weekend giving fans their first glimpse of The Bad Guys: Little Lies and Alibis, which promises to unfold with the crew’s usual brand of slapstick criminal chaos. We see Mr. Wolf, Mr. Snake, Ms. Tarantula, Mr. Shark and Mr. Piranha flail and crash their way through a series of mishaps before making a tasty getaway in a truck full of live chickens.

The core voice cast from the original film is back for the sequel, with Zazie Beetz reprising her role as Governor Diane Foxington, Richard Ayoade returning as the pompous Professor Marmalade, and Alex Borstein once again voicing the no-nonsense Police Chief Misty Luggin. Joining the lineup are new additions known as The Bad Girls: Danielle Brooks voices Kitty Kat, a fierce snow leopard; Maria Bakalova brings wild boar Bigtail to life; and Natasha Lyonne lends her voice to Doom, a sharp-witted raven.

Pierre Perifel, who directed the first Bad Guys film, returns at the helm, this time joined by co-director JP Sans, previously head of character animation. The film continues to draw inspiration from Aaron Blabey’s popular children’s book series of the same name.

With its vibrant animation, engaging characters, and heartfelt storytelling, The Bad Guys 2 is poised to captivate audiences upon its release. Whether you’re a fan of the original or new to the franchise, this sequel promises a wild ride of heists, humour, and heart

After 28 years in corporate life, I swapped spreadsheets for screenplays and now write movie reviews and celebrity articles for Geekhub. It’s been a year of creative freedom, storytelling, and loving what I do—plus the occasional dramatic reaction to plot twists. No more meetings, just movies—and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
