It’s official — R-Truth has left WWE after a legendary 17-year run, and fans everywhere are feeling the impact. The 53-year-old veteran, whose real name is Ronnie Killings, confirmed the news on June 1, 2025, in a heartfelt post on social media.

“I’m sorry to inform you all. I just got released from WWE,” he shared on X (formerly Twitter). “I want to thank WWE for the ride, but MOSTLY I want to thank each and EVERYONE OF YOU who was along for the ride. Thank you for all the love, support, and appreciation…”

R-Truth ’s WWE Departure: What Happened?

R-Truth’s WWE contract was not renewed, marking the end of a career that blended high-energy athleticism with unmatched comedic genius. Known for his hilarious backstage segments, crowd-pleasing antics, and jaw-dropping agility, R-Truth carved out a space in WWE that was entirely his own.

Whether he was getting “got” by the 24/7 Championship or tagging with The Miz as part of “The Awesome Truth,” R-Truth always brought a unique spark to the show — and the WWE Universe loved him for it.

    A Look Back at R-Truth ’s Career

R-Truth’s wrestling journey began in the late 1990s under the name K-Kwik. He made early waves in WWE before moving to TNA (now Impact Wrestling), where he made history as the first recognized Black NWA World Heavyweight Champion. In 2008, he returned to WWE and reintroduced himself to a new generation of fans as R-Truth.

Over the years, he racked up an impressive list of accomplishments:

    • 2-time WWE United States Champion
    • 2-time WWE Tag Team Champion
    • Record-breaking 54-time WWE 24/7 Champion

But beyond the titles, it was his personality that truly defined him. R-Truth’s ability to make audiences laugh while still delivering in the ring earned him the respect of fans, peers, and legends alike.

R-Truth ’s Final WWE Matches and Storylines

Leading up to his release, R-Truth was still making moves. He squared off against John Cena at Saturday Night’s Main Event in early 2025 — a match that reminded fans just how beloved he still is. His final appearance came on the May 30 episode of SmackDown, where he took on JC Mateo in a short but spirited bout, full of his trademark humor and resilience.

    The Wrestling World Reacts

News of R-Truth’s WWE release sent shockwaves through the wrestling community, with tributes pouring in from fellow superstars:

    • Rhea Ripley called the news “heartbreaking.”
    • The Miz praised their time as a tag team, saying “The Awesome Truth” was one of the best runs of his career.
    • CM Punk tweeted, “Your character can never be imitated.”
    • Kevin Owens called R-Truth a “timeless performer” and said his absence leaves an “immeasurable” void.

Forming Awesome Truth with you was one of the best runs of my career. No one made me laugh harder. Your energy, heart, and smile lit up every room…and every arena. You’re not one of a kind, you’re one in a lifetime. Love you, Truth. Keep shining. ❤️ pic.twitter.com/RU6UaDXGSx

Clearly, R-Truth’s influence reached far beyond the ring.

    What’s Next for R-Truth?

While his next move hasn’t been revealed, one thing’s for sure — R-Truth’s charisma isn’t going to waste. Whether he returns to the indie scene, lands in another wrestling promotion, or explores opportunities in entertainment or comedy, fans will be watching.

    A Lasting Legacy

R-Truth’s departure marks the end of an unforgettable chapter in WWE history. Few performers have blended entertainment and wrestling with the ease and consistency he brought every time he stepped into the spotlight.

As fans say goodbye to R-Truth’s WWE run, his legacy as a groundbreaking, hilarious, and endlessly entertaining superstar is already cemented.
