Good Fortune Trailer Features Keanu Reeves In A New Light

Lionsgate has released the first trailer for Aziz Ansari‘s directorial debut Good Fortune. Imagine stumbling into an alternate universe where John Wick swapped his guns for punchlines and Neo traded red pills for romantic mishaps. That’s the vibe the trailer for Good Fortune gives us, and honestly, I’m really intrigued. The moment you see Keanu Reeves crack a goofy grin and lean into the absurd, you know you’re in for something… blessedly different.

From Stoic Assassin to Comic Ally – Keanu’s Unexpected Pivot

If you’re used to Keanu’s brand of brooding zen (cue: Wick’s thousand-yard stare or Neo’s digital destiny), Good Fortune tosses that stoicism out the window like a rom-com script at a kung-fu dojo. In this film, Keanu isn’t the centre of the storm—he’s the storm’s hilarious guardian angel, literally. With an ethereal glow and impeccable comedic timing, he plays a celestial being tasked with guiding a down-on-his-luck man (Aziz Ansari) toward happiness… in the most chaotic way possible. Seeing Keanu lean fully into whimsy—dancing awkwardly, offering divine advice with a smirk, or just embracing full-blown sitcom energy—is like watching your favourite monk try stand-up. It shouldn’t work. But oh, it does.

    Absurd, Heartfelt, and Surprisingly Zen

When the trailer opens, Gabriel is on a rooftop overlooking Los Angeles, speaking with another angel named Martha (Sandra Oh). “Martha, is there any way I can have more meaningful duties?” Gabriel asks. “I want to guide people; I want to change their lives.” Martha tells him that “to save a lost soul, you have to find a lost soul.” But for Gabriel, this doesn’t take long. He discovers one in Ansari’s character, while standing one night atop an L.A. Denny’s.The trailer promises an offbeat comedy with celestial stakes, divine misunderstandings, and a dash of spiritual slapstick. Think Bruce Almighty meets The Good Place but with Keanu as your quirky, robed tour guide through the karmic jungle of life. Director Aziz Ansari (who also stars) brings his signature introspective humour, and the chemistry between him and Keanu feels both grounded and delightfully bizarre.

Star-Studded & Self-Penned: Aziz Ansari Takes the Helm with a Dream Cast

‘Good Fortune’ is written and directed by Aziz Ansari. The film stars Seth Rogen, Aziz Ansari, Keke Palmer, with Sandra Oh, and Keanu Reeves.

Geek Verdict: A Wild, Worthy Departure

Good Fortune might just be the genre cleanse we didn’t know we needed from Keanu Reeves. It’s light, irreverent, and sparkles with a charm that’s rare in today’s trailer landscape. If you’re looking for a film where Keanu doesn’t save the world with bullets but with bumbling cosmic wisdom, Good Fortune looks like a fortune worth cracking open. The trailer teases a whimsical comedy about destiny, self-discovery, and the strange cosmic forces  that push us toward happiness. It’s weird, it’s warm, and it might just be the most unexpected feel-good ride of the year.
