August 16 is shaping up to be a big day for the Fast & Furious franchise. What began in 2001 as a modest street-racing action film, The Fast and the Furious, has evolved into a global blockbuster series known for its over-the-top stunts and cars dropping out of cargo planes.
With Fast 11 on the horizon, the franchise continues to expand, bringing together an all-star cast that has featured Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Gal Gadot, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, John Cena, Jason Momoa, Sung Kang, Jordana Brewster, and Kurt Russell.
Now, Netflix has revealed via Instagram that seven Fast & Furious films will join its library on August 16. The lineup includes the first three installment’s (The Fast and the Furious, 2 Fast 2 Furious, and Tokyo Drift), as well as Fast Five, Fast & Furious 6, Furious 7, and the spinoff Hobbs & Shaw.
That leaves just four films absent from the August 16 drop: the three most recent entries in the main series (The Fate of the Furious, F9, and Fast X) along with the fourth film, Fast & Furious.
This marks one of the most accessible moments for the franchise on streaming, as Netflix, the streamer that boasts the largest subscriber base in the world, brings the bulk of the series under one roof. Previously, the films were scattered across multiple platforms including Prime Video, HBO Max, YouTube TV, and Starz. While those services will retain certain titles for now, Prime Video’s selections will migrate to Netflix alongside Hobbs & Shaw (previously unavailable on subscription streaming) and Furious 7 (until now locked to the pricey Fubo service).

Once the films shift to Netflix, the only Fast & Furious installment missing from any subscription streaming service will be the eighth film, The Fate of the Furious. Whether it will secure a streaming home in the near future remains uncertain.
Although this move doesn’t unite the entire franchise under one platform, such a scenario would be rare for a series that’s spanned over two decades, with complex licensing agreements spread across multiple studios and regions.
Still, bringing the bulk of the Fast & Furious saga to Netflix is a significant win for the streamer, especially with anticipation likely to spike as work on the next installment gains momentum.
