South Africa’s SAFA Gaming Squad has qualified for the FIFAe World Cup 2025 after dominating the African regional qualifiers.
The six-member team, Gareth “Snowyy” Spiers, Brayden “Gunzinho” Keith, David “2DIE4” Morgenrood, and reserves Joshua “Sweaty” Kleynhans, Amandla “N1tro” Dlamini, and Umar “Werty” Rasool, impressed at Comic Con Africa and Telkom VS Gaming before topping Group A, beating Seychelles and Egypt, and finishing second to Morocco.
The World Cup takes place from 15 to 19 December 2025 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. SAFA CEO Lydia Monyepao said the milestone reflects SAFA’s growing commitment to esports and youth engagement, adding that it “creates a wider scope for the youth to look at SAFA and its opportunities to represent the country.”
Registration for the 2026 SAFA Gaming season opens on 1 December 2025, giving new Rocket League and eFootball players a chance to join the next wave of digital athletes.
South Africa’s Rocket League squad is proving that national pride now extends beyond the pitch. This qualification is not just a gaming milestone, it is another sign that South African talent belongs on the global digital stage.
