There’s something about rAge that hits different. Maybe it’s the smell of fresh merch. Maybe it’s the unspoken agreement that nobody is judging you for wearing a cape in a mall. Or maybe it’s the fact that for one weekend every year, South Africans get to step out of the grind and into something joyful, ridiculous, creative, and beautifully geeky.
And 2025 looks like the year rAge finally decided to stop holding back.
From 5 to 7 December, Fourways Mall Level 8 becomes Planet rAge. If you love games, gadgets, fandom, or just being around people who get excited about the same weird things you do, this is your playground.
The LEGO Death Star build that hits you right in the nostalgia
Look, you can debate movie rankings all you want, but nothing unites fans like LEGO.
zaLUG is returning with a live build of the biggest Star Wars LEGO set ever made. Nine thousand and twenty-three pieces. Thirty-eight minifigures. Zero chill.
The best part? You don’t just stare at it. You help build it.
You slot in a brick or two, glance at the masterpiece forming around you, and suddenly you’re seven years old again building in your parents’ lounge.
Kids get their own play pit. Grown-ups get daily build challenges. Everyone gets a moment that feels strangely wholesome in the middle of a chaotic expo.
VITURE AR glasses: futuristic, but in a cool, practical way
Every expo claims to have “next-gen tech,” but most of it is either half-baked or just flashy marketing with RGB. The VITURE AR glasses are different. They’re actually useful.
PDC is bringing them to South Africa for the first time, and they feel like the future we were promised. A massive virtual screen floating in your line of sight, but without the neck strain or sweaty-face headset situation.
You can plug them into your console, your PC, your Steam Deck, even your phone.
Netflix on a plane? Easy. Starfield on a couch without a TV? Done.
Zoom call while lying flat on your bed? Don’t pretend you won’t try this.
These glasses are going to be the talk of the expo.
Razer and Turtle Beach bring the energy
The Razer Arena is basically an adrenaline trap. Tournaments. Daily prizes. Streamer battles that will definitely end friendships. Plus, a “Try On Your Gear” photo zone because if you didn’t post it, did it even happen?
Turtle Beach is going hard with racing and flight sims. The kind that make you forget there’s a real world outside. You’ll hear the engines before you even turn the corner.
Star Wars fans, your inner child is calling
The 501st South African Outpost is back with their iconic photo booth. Stormtroopers. Charity. A chance to win a lightsaber. You know the vibe.
And right next door, Swanzee Arts & Crafts is letting fans create their own merch. Caps, mugs, bags. Your fandom, your way.
It’s a wholesome corner that reminds you how big and generous this community really is.
rAge 2025 isn’t just an event. It’s a mood shift.
It feels like the organisers finally asked themselves, “What if we stop running a convention and start building an experience?”
And then they actually did it.
This year is interactive. Hands-on. Nostalgic. Tech-packed. And deeply community-driven in a way that feels rare.
If you’ve ever needed a reminder of why being a geek is such a beautiful thing, rAge 2025 is it.
