Almost everybody looks to make a lasting impression on a first date, and I say “almost” cos for many just raking up the nerve to go on a first date, is an adventure in itself. But for those that care to indulge, be sure not to miss Drop. The movie promises to keep you on the edge of your seat for the full hour and 25 minutes.
The movie is directed by Christopher Landon famously known for his high concept horrors “Freaky” and “Happy Death Day“. Here, he ventures into the treacherous terrain of first encounters, where danger lurks around every corner.
Starring Meghann Fahy (“The White Lotus”) and Brandon Sklenar (It Ends With Us) as a couple on a blind first-date whose romantic dinner spirals into a deadly game of cat-and-mouse in which everyone’s a suspect.
“Violet, a widowed mother finally decides to take the plunge and go on her first date in years. She arrives at an upscale restaurant where she is relieved that her date, Henry is more charming and handsome than she expected. However, their blossoming attraction is soon overshadowed by a creeping sense of dread. Anonymous messages begin to plague Violet’s phone, each one more unsettling than the last.
A chilling ultimatum throws Violet’s world into chaos. Silence is her only shield, obedience her only weapon. The hooded figure lurking on her security cameras holds the lives of her loved ones hostage, and the price of their survival is unthinkable, take the life of the man she’s just met.
Violet’s attempts to break free from the deadly game she’s been forced to play have devastating consequences. The trailer hints at a terrifying escalation, with chaos erupting in the restaurant and a rising body count leaving Violet trapped in a nightmare she can’t control.
And while the title of Drop refers to the anonymous drops to her phone, the trailer ends with a big set piece that sees Violet in danger of literally dropping to her death from the restaurant’s window.
The cast also includes Violett Beane, Travis Nelson, Fiona Browne, Gabrielle Ryan, Tara Mae and Stephanie Karam.
If you want to see how it all plays out, be sure to take a date to a cinema near you on April 11.
