Cate Blanchett, the Australian actress who has won two Oscars for her roles in The Aviator and Blue Jasmine, has voiced her feelings about AI. She told Laura Kuenssberg of the BBC that, she is “deeply concerned” about the impact of artificial intelligence (AI). “I’m looking at these robots and driverless cars and I don’t really know what that’s bringing anybody”, stated Blanchett.
Her views unfolded during her promotion of her new film “Rumours”, an apocalyptic comedy about a group of world leaders trapped in a forest.In Rumours, Blanchett plays the Chancellor of Germany who hosts a G7 summit for other world leaders. Blanchett is less concerned about her job safety as she believes that the average man is at more of a threat with the advancements of AI. “Forget whether they’re an actor or not, if you’ve recorded yourself for three or four seconds your voice can be replicated”, remarked Blanchett.
