The “Stranger Things” star, who plays Max Mayfield in the hugely successful Netflix show, has reportedly landed a role in the next installment of the Spider-Man franchise to star opposite Tom Holland, according to Deadline.
With production scheduled to begin later this year, Tom Holland appears to have found a new co-star. Sadie Sink is set to join the Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios sequel in an unspecified role. If the report by Deadline proves correct, Sink 22, who shot to fame after joining the hit Netflix sci-fi series in the second season will be the first new cast addition for Spider-Man’s fourth solo film.
As for who Sink will be playing, the prevailing theory is she’ll be introduced as X-Men character Jean Grey or in Deadline’s words, “another beloved redheaded Spider-Man character”, which is code for Mary Jane Watson. Although the latter wouldn’t be a huge surprise, as Sink seems tailor-made for Peter’s fiery, perennial love interest. It would however cause a fair amount of confusion for the viewers who associate Zendaya with the role of MJ.
For me personally, I would prefer that Sink plays Grey, one of the most powerful mutants in the world, possessing telekinetic and telepathic powers. But that’s just my opinion. What is known is that the role will be a significant one given how the most recent film, Spider-Man: No Way Home, concluded with Parker making the decision to complete Doctor Strange’s spell that erases his identity from the world.

Holland, who’ll reprise his role as Peter Parker, is the only actor confirmed to appear so far. Zendaya, who portrayed MJ in the first three standalone MCU movies, is also expected to return, but confirmation is yet to be received by Marvel.
With filming is set to begin in mid-2025 for the highly-anticipated Marvel movie, cast leaks are expected out via Hollywood’s biggest trade publications and Geekhub will keep you posted as they surface.
