iPhone 18 Pro Renders: Is Apple Finally Killing the Dynamic Island?

We haven’t even fully settled into 2026, and the tech world is already bored with the present. The iPhone 17 series is barely out of its box, and yet here we are, staring at renders of the iPhone 18 Pro like we’re trying to glimpse the future through a crystal ball.

Over at Front Page Tech, Jon Prosser and Asher Dipprey have dropped a render video that’s doing the rounds. Now, we’ve seen our fair share of “leaks” that were nothing more than digital fever dreams. But Jon Prosser on the other hand, usually gets it right.

So let’s see why you should (or shouldn’t) care.

    The Death of the Island

Android fans have been chirping the Apple dudes for years about the “island” taking up real estate. If these renders are the real deal, Apple is finally tucking the Face ID sensors under the glass. We’re looking at a single, clean punch-hole for the camera.

And to be fair, it’s about bloody time. The Dynamic Island was a clever way to mask a hardware limitation with software flair, but it always felt like a transition and it is dated. Moving to a punch-hole, while not futuristic at least aligns it to everything else on the market.

2nm Power: Because Our Batteries Struggle Enough

The rumored A20 chip is expected to be Apple’s first 2nm masterpiece. In the real world, because that’s were it really matters, this isn’t just about “faster” apps. It’s also about thermal efficiency. When you’re sitting in traffic in 30-degree heat, using your phone as a hotspot, or when you’re trying to clock that next high score on your favourite mobile game, you want a chip that doesn’t turn your device into a hand-warmer.

The bigger news? Apple is reportedly ditching Qualcomm for their own C2 Modem. Owning the processor and  the modem, usually translates to one thing: better battery life. That’s something I can actually get behind.

    The “Titanium Earth” Aesthetic

The renders show three colours: a moody Burgundy, a royal Purple, and a Brown.

The Brown is sophisticated and grounded. Not a loud “Zest-orange” or please “Look-at-me-Gold”. It’s the kind of colour that feels grown-up and will fit in the boardroom or a weekend night out.

The Strategic Pivot: Pro or Fold

The biggest move here is the rumored lineup shift. Word is we won’t see a “standard” iPhone 18. You’re either going Pro or you’re going Fold.

This is Apple leaning hard into the premium space. They aren’t trying to be everything to everyone anymore. They want the high-end enthusiasts and the early adopters. However in a market like ours, where the exchange rate makes every tech purchase a calculated investment, this narrows the field significantly.

    Verdict ( For Now )

Is it hype? A lot of it is, yeah. But the move toward variable aperture cameras and 5G via satellite (beyond just emergency SOS) and the recent announcement of the Google partnership, suggests that Apple is finally feeling the heat from competitors and is ready to stop playing it safe.
