If hair-raising and spine-chilling sound effects appeal to you, Leigh Whannell has the perfect horror in store for you to start your new year, werewolf style. “Wolf Man” comes to you on the back of the huge critical success of “The Invisible Man,” which was released in 2020. Leigh Whannell has become one of the modern masters of horror thanks to his work in the franchises “Saw” (co-created with James Wan) and “Insidious,” and he has recently focused on bringing classic horror characters back to life.
The story follows Golden Globe nominee Christopher Abbott as Blake and Julia Garner as Charlotte, with their daughter played by Matilda Firth as Ginger. Residing in San Francisco, and with his marriage on the rocks, Blake persuades his wife to take a break from the city and go with him to visit his remote childhood home that he has inherited in rural Oregon, after his father disappears and is presumed dead.
Upon approaching the house, the family is attacked by an unseen animal and barricades themselves inside the house as the creature continues to prowl outside. While inside the house, horror unfolds when Blake goes through a disturbing physical transformation, leaving him completely unrecognizable, and Charlotte will be forced to decide whether the terror within their house is more lethal than the danger that lurks outside.
Who will she fear more? The monster outside… or the one beside her? Make a chilling discovery on January 17th, 2025, in cinemas near you.
