Caught Stealing : Russians, Money, Mayhem And Furry Little Fur Ball

You know how sometimes doing a friend a favour sounds easy? Like, “Hey, can you water my plants?” or “Mind feeding my cat while I’m out of town?” Simple, right? WRONG. Because in Caught Stealing, that innocent little favour turns into a full-blown, blood-soaked, bat-swinging disaster of epic proportions.

One minute, Hank Thompson (Austin Butler) is just a washed-up ex-baseball player trying to mind his business and look after a cat. The next? He’s knee-deep in mobsters, murder, and mayhem. All this, because he couldn’t say no to a furry little fur ball with a suspiciously shady backstory.

Adapted from Charlie Huston’s cult pulp-noir novel, this upcoming film is a full-throttle plunge into the seedy underbelly of New York City, seen through the blackened eye of an ex-baseball player turned accidental outlaw. The trailer wastes no time slamming you into the chaos, with shots of dimly-lit backrooms, frantic chases, blood-slicked money, and one very unlucky cat.The trailer for Caught Stealing, portrays Hank Thompson as a high-school baseball phenom who can’t play anymore. On the bright side, he’s got a great girl (Zoë Kravitz), a job as a bar tender, and his favourite team is making an underdog run at the pennant.

Now Hank, living the life of a regular guy slinging drinks and dodging his past, until one favour for his friend Russ (Matt Smith), drops him into a spiral of mobsters, dirty cops, and a whole lot of stolen cash. Oh, and did I mention the Russian hitmen? They all want a piece of him and he has no idea why. As Hank attempts to evade their ever-tightening grip, he’s got to use all his hustle to stay alive long enough to find out…what the hell is going on.

Later in the trailer, we learn that Russ is hiding over $4 million in a storage unit, a detail that quickly turns him into everyone’s favourite target. What follows is a chaotic, cat-and-mouse chase involving a wild mix of characters, from Russian mobsters to Puerto Rican gangs and even a few Hebrew-speaking heavies. The result? A fast-paced, bullet-dodging thrill ride that promises sharp action, dark humour, and standout performances from Butler and Smith.

The film is directed by Darren Aronofsky, with a screenplay by Charlie Huston. Co starring Regina King, Liev Schreiber,Vincent D’Onofrio, Griffin Dunne, Benito A Martínez Ocasio aka “Bad Bunny”, and featuring Carol Kane. This looks like mad crazy NYC fun! Running around & getting into all kinds of chaos on the streets of the Big Apple.
