Everything You Need to Know About Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow

As of now, no official trailer has been released for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. However, anticipation is building for this upcoming DC Universe (DCU) film, set to premiere on June 26, 2026. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow has officially completed filming and will star House of the Dragon breakout Milly Alcock in the lead role. The film marks Kara Zor-El’s first solo cinematic journey, picking up after her debut in the forthcoming Superman movie.

Inspired by the Woman of Tomorrow comic, the film is expected to follow Kara as she embarks on an interstellar quest for vengeance. Jason Momoa returns to the DC Universe as the ruthless mercenary Lobo, while The Old Guard‘s Matthias Schoenaerts takes on the role of the main antagonist.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is set to release in theatres on June 26, 2026, nearly a year after the release of Superman this July. According to James Gunn’s DCU release schedule, this positions Supergirl as the fourth instalment in Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.

The film is adapted from Tom King’s comic of the same name and closely follows its storyline. It begins with Kara Zor-El journeying across the galaxy to mark her 21st birthday, accompanied by her loyal companion, Krypto the Superdog. Along the way, she crosses paths with Ruthye, a determined young woman seeking justice for her father’s murder. Moved by her story, Kara joins her on a mission for revenge, ready to help however she can. This narrative promises a deeper exploration of Supergirl’s character, showcasing her grappling with loss, identity, and the moral complexities of justice versus vengeance.

It’s also confirmed that Supergirl will first appear in the upcoming Superman film, which should offer some insight into the direction her solo story might take. Ideally, that movie will shed light on the relationship between Kara and her cousin, Clark Kent—especially since, in the comics, their dynamic is already somewhat strained by the time Woman of Tomorrowbegins.

House of the Dragon breakout star Milly Alcock is set to portray Supergirl, Kara Zor-El. She was handpicked by James Gunn, who praised her for her “edge, grace, and authenticity.” Opposite her, Matthias Schoenaerts takes on the role of the film’s main antagonist, Krem of the Yellow Hills, while Eve Ridley will play Ruthye Marye Knoll, the young girl who forms a powerful bond with Supergirl on her journey.

The full cast of Supergirl hasn’t been officially finalised just yet, and there’s a good chance we’ll see a few surprise cameos along the way. For now, here’s a rundown of everyone confirmed to be part of the film so far. Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El / Supergirl, Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, Emily Beecham as Supergirl’s mother and Jason Momoa as Lobo

Unfortunately there is no Supergirl trailer as yet. Cameras only started rolling on the project in January 2025, and as such there will likely be a bit of a wait before new footage is released.

We will provide you with a full trailer review as soon as it lands!
