You know the holiday season’s gone off the rails when your festive spirit is held hostage by family drama, competitive carollers, and a rogue inflatable Santa. This is when it all starts to look a lot like chaos. Prime Video has revealed the first sneak peek trailer for a Christmas comedy movie called Oh. What. Fun, from director Michael Showalter. An adaptation of the short story by Chandler Baker that was originally published by Amazon Original Stories. Michelle Pfeiffer plays Claire Clauster the holiday MVP.

Claire, the mastermind behind every frosted cookie, colour-coded gift wrap, and picture-perfect tradition that keeps her delightfully dysfunctional family on track each year. But this Christmas, as her grown kids spiral into personal chaos and her husband phones it in with store-bought stockings, they make the ultimate holiday faux pas, they forget about Mom. By the time they notice Claire’s gone, she’s already embarked on a festive escape of her own. No chores, no checklists, and definitely no coordinating carollers. As her bewildered family scrambles to track her down and piece together the holiday, Claire finds joy in something she’s long forgotten, the joy within herself. Naturally, the rest of the family scrambles to find their linchpin, learning what it really means to appreciate Mom.

The trailer perfectly captures the tug-of-war between holiday expectation and personal liberation. Pfeiffer’s Claire oscillates between exasperated staging and serene solitude without uttering a word. The ensemble that includes Felicity Jones, Chloë Grace Moretz, Denis Leary, Dominic Sessa, Danielle Brooks, Devery Jacobs, Havana Rose Liu, Maude Apatow, Jason Schwartzman, Eva Longoria and Joan Chen all add delightful sparks. Expect Moretz’s trademark rebellion, Schwartzman’s sly charm, and Leary’s comedic despair.

    Geek Verdict:

Oh. What. Fun. looks like the holiday antidote most of us need, familiar yet refreshingly selfish. A celebration of moms everywhere daring to unwrap their own joy this season. The film is a wink to every overworked holiday host, and celebrates family, freedom, and the unexpected magic of a Christmas gone off-script.

Streaming on Prime Video December 3, 2025. Just in time to remind us that even holiday heroes deserve a plot twist.

After 28 years in corporate life, I swapped spreadsheets for screenplays and now write movie reviews and celebrity articles for Geekhub. It’s been a year of creative freedom, storytelling, and loving what I do—plus the occasional dramatic reaction to plot twists. No more meetings, just movies—and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
