Sorisha Naidoo: The Glam, The Grit, The Growth

Sorisha Naidoo, one of the original and most captivating cast members of The Real Housewives of Durban(RHODurban), has once again left her mark by helping the show shatter viewing records on Showmax.

    A Record-Breaking Debut

When RHODurban premiered on 29 January 2021, it soared to number one on Showmax, breaking all previous first-day streaming records on the platform. Candice Fangueiro, Showmax’s Head of Content, celebrated the explosive success:

“We know our reality fans come for the drama and if you’re looking for fireworks, the first episode of RHOD has it all, so we’re not surprised to see it break records.”

The show dominated social media as well, topping Twitter trends across South Africa and the continent under #RHODurban and #realhousewivesofdurban

    Sorisha’s Role in the Drama

Sorisha wasn’t just there to look glamorous. A former Miss India South Africa, beauty entrepreneur, and spouse of billionaire Vivian Reddy, she brings both style and substance. Her home even served as the dramatic setting for the first explosive Diwali dinner, where tensions flared between Ayanda Ncwane and Nonku Williams.

In later seasons, Sorisha’s participation became even more compelling. During the Season 4 reunion (May 2024), she famously stormed off barefoot, refusing to stay silent when her husband and her reputation were under fire. Sorisha went on to say:

“It was very hard to watch the final episode and not feel a certain way about it. … By the time the apology was trying to come through at the reunion, I was over it. I was already checked out.”

Despite the dramatic exit, she left the door open to return:

“If there is a major shake‑up and the show is more aspirational, and we see each other as women and not anything else, I would be back.”

The Glam, The Grit, The Growth

Sorisha’s presence on the show balances glamour with grit. Fans and critics alike have noticed her bold evolution, no longer playing peacemaker, but asserting herself with unapologetic strength. One Twitter fan described her as entering her “villain era,” unafraid to say “voetsek” when she meant it reported times live. Reddit viewers also praised her for “mocking the entire rich estate life and Housewives drama,” showing she can laugh at herself and the absurdities around her with bold maturity.

Behind the glitz, Sorisha’s also dedicated to business and wellness. Beyond beauty products, she runs the Umhlanga Laser & Aesthetic Spa and Source SA health clinic, offering everything from laser treatments to “scalar wave” healing therapies.

Looking Ahead: What’s Next for Sorisha?

RHODurban’s Season 5 (released March 2025) reunited Sorisha with fellow OG cast mates, setting the stage for new conflicts and alliances. Her tagline this season—“It takes hard work to bring home the Birkin.” Perfectly encapsulates her blend of luxury and hustle.

She’s explicitly singled she’ll return only if the show rises above petty “toxicity” and delivers more aspirational storylines. With her track record for drama and record-breaking success, Sorisha remains central to RHODurban’s appeal.

Sorisha Naidoo’s charisma, confrontation, and candor have not only driven RHODurban’s record-breaking popularity but also made her a fan-favorite force of nature. With her business savvy, unapologetic style, and emotional honesty, she remains the heartbeat of the show and the linchpin any season renewal leans on.

After 28 years in corporate life, I swapped spreadsheets for screenplays and now write movie reviews and celebrity articles for Geekhub. It’s been a year of creative freedom, storytelling, and loving what I do—plus the occasional dramatic reaction to plot twists. No more meetings, just movies—and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
