Is Joe Keery the MCU’s Next Big Casting?

    The Rumours Reach Keery

Joe Keery knows about the Marvel Cinematic Universe whispers that have been making the rounds, and has finally commented on the rumours of him possibly stepping into the MCU.

    Life After Stranger Things

Keery shot to instant fame as Steve Harrington in Netflix’s lightning-in-a-bottle hit Stranger Things. This chapter officially closed in December 2025, after the show’s three-part farewell in December 2025. Since then, he hasn’t exactly been standing still. There was the Ryan Reynolds blockbuster Free Guy, the chaotic, screen-life horror Spree, and a standout turn in Fargo season 5. Keery’s résumé is stacking up.

From TikTok Edits to Harry Osborn Theories

There has been an awful lot of speculation over the last few months regarding a conversation with Marvel Studios about a potential role in the MCU. Speaking with ScreenRant’s Liam Crowley while promoting his horror-comedy Cold Storage, Keery addressed the rumours with a grin. He joked that he is, in fact, aware of Spider-Man, and admitted he has seen TikTok edits casting him as Harry Osborn. As for the idea of playing Peter Parker’s complicated comic-book best friend? He said it is fun to imagine.

Marvel Talks: Fact or Fan Fiction?

Still, he kept things grounded. Keery went on to say that “the right thing happens at the right time,” and that “at the end of the day,” there’s only so much an actor can do with planning for “different things,” be they more independent projects or something on the level of the MCU:. Whether it is a scrappy indie or a billion-dollar superhero machine, you keep reading, keep looking, and see what sticks said the actor.

Cyclops, Nova, or Ghost Rider? Fans Weigh In

The speculation kicked into higher gear back in January, when reports claimed he was in talks for an undisclosed MCU role. Since then, fans have been playing casting director. Harry Osborn tops the list, but other names have surfaced too. Among those are, Cyclops in the upcoming X-Men reboot, Nova for the long-developing Disney+ series, and even Ghost Rider.

    Why Harry Osborn Makes Sense

The Harry theory has some logic behind it though. The only Osborn we have seen in the MCU so far is Willem Dafoe’s Norman, courtesy of the multiversal chaos in No Way Home. With Spider-Man: Brand New Day on its way, the stage could be set to introduce Harry in a more appropriate manner. Interestingly enough it won’t be the first time for a Stranger Things alum to join the web-slinging corner of the MCU. Sadie Sink who previously starred in Stranger Things is set to appear in Brand New Day as well, however her role remains a mystery.

A Familiar Path Into the MCU

Now if we look outside the box, the 2026 Spider-Man film is rumoured to launch a fresh trilogy for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker. That opens the door for Keery to appear sooner rather than later. He could follow a similar path to Holland’s own debut in Captain America: Civil War. Making an appearance in another project before headlining a Spider-Man storyline. Or Marvel could cast him as someone entirely different. In a universe this large, the possibilities are endless.

What Happens If the Door Opens?

Keery’s MCU future depends on two things really. Does he fancy an MCU role, and if Marvel has a place for him. The studio is recalibrating after a few box office stumbles, all while steering toward Avengers: Secret Wars to close out the Multiverse Saga. With the 2027 event film rumoured to function as a soft reset for the franchise, the board may be about to reshuffle.

If that happens, Joe Keery might find more doors open than anyone expects.
