HONOR launches X6b with Showmax partnership

    Presented by Honor

Global technology brand HONOR is excited to unveil the HONOR X6b, the newest member of its popular HONOR X Series portfolio. Starting today , the smartphone will be available at selected retailers and network providers nationwide. The smartphone combines long-lasting battery life, large storage, advanced AI camera features, and high-performance display to enable users to unlock their eXtra power, redefining expectations in the entry-level category.

In a one-of-a-kind collaboration, HONOR has partnered with Showmax as part of the device launch. Consumers who buy the HONOR X6b will receive a 3-month Showmax subscription where they can enjoy their favourite TV shows and movies. The subscription will enable them to download shows, so they don’t have to stress about data and connectivity.

“The HONOR X6b represents our commitment to delivering cutting-edge technology at an accessible price point,” said Fred Zhou, General Manager of HONOR South Africa. ” With its powerful battery, advanced AI camera and storage, this device is set to redefine what consumers can expect from entry-level smartphones. Our exciting partnership with Showmax further enhances the value, offering users not only a high-performance device but also a premium entertainment experience.”

Battery Life and Storage Capacity of Premium Devices

Offering up to two days of light daily usage on a single charge, the HONOR X6b houses a large 5200mAh battery to power the power-efficient MediaTek Helio G85 at the core of the smartphone. The battery is also highly energy-dense at 731wh/L, fitting in the 8.39mm thin chassis that feels just right in the hand. Whether it’s for listening to music or browsing social media, the HONOR X6b stays powered for longer, with up to 26 hours of online streaming or 27 hours of social media engagement. Furthermore, with the HONOR Super Power-Saving mode, the device supports a standby time of more than 19 hours with a mere 10% battery life remaining.

Charging is no longer a waiting game with the 35W HONOR SuperCharge technology. Users can activate the Turbo charging mode in a single tap, and achieve a 20% charge in just 10 minutes with the included charger. The HONOR X6b not only promises long-lasting performance, but also durability. Even after 1,000 charge cycles, the battery maintains 80% of its capacity, equating to four years of reliable service. This durability places the HONOR X6b among the most steadfast batteries available today.

Storage space is abundant in the HONOR X6b, which boasts 256GB of internal memory. This expansive storage can house over 60,000 photos, more than 24,000 songs, or over 200 movies, ensuring that users’ favourite content is always within reach. Enhancing its performance, the HONOR X6b features HONOR RAM Turbo technology, which effectively doubles the available RAM from 6GB to 12GB by utilizing a portion of the flash memory. This innovation allows for smoother multitasking and enhances the user experience.

AI Ultra-clear Camera with a 50MP Main Camera

The HONOR X6b elevates mobile photography with its sophisticated multi-camera setup, designed to capture life’s moments with stunning clarity. This system features a 50MP Main Camera, a 5MP Front Camera, enhancing the camera’s capabilities further.

The AI Ultra-clear Camera stands out with a suite of AI-enhanced features to elevate the photography experience. AI Intelligent Recognition automatically identifies the main subject and removes background distractions, enabling users to capture clean, focused images effortlessly. The Smile Snapshot feature ensures that no joyful moment is missed by triggering a photo capture when a smile is detected. Furthermore, the Multi-frame Fusion Algorithm and Super Night Scene Algorithm significantly upgrade image quality. The former captures multiple shots at different exposures and merges them into a single, clear, and detailed image, effectively handling low-light and high-contrast settings by balancing bright areas and preserving details in shadows. Meanwhile, the Super Night Scene Algorithm boosts the camera’s low-light performance, producing vivid, detailed images even in very dark conditions.

Expansive, Robust Display Delivers Crisp Visuals Even Under Sunlight

The HONOR X6b is equipped with a stunning 6.56-inch Clear Display, boasting a 90Hz high refresh rate for ultra-smooth visuals. The display’s ultra-high brightness of up to 780 nits in sunlight mode ensures clarity even under direct sunlight, with a manual maximum brightness of 660 nits for optimal viewing in various lighting conditions.

True to its commitment to delivering human-centric innovation, HONOR has incorporated a suite of advanced eye protection features into the HONOR X6b. These include E-Book Mode, Eye Protection Mode, DC Dimming, and Dynamic Dimming Display. Together, these features provide flicker-free illumination in low-light conditions and adjust the screen’s lighting to simulate natural light patterns. This thoughtful integration promotes healthier eye function and enhances visual comfort for users.

    Industry-Leading Drop Resistance
The HONOR X6b also sets a new standard in durability with its industry-leading 5-Star Drop-Resistant Quality, certified by SGS[12]. Designed to withstand drops from heights of up to 1.5 meters, the HONOR X6b provides comprehensive 360° protection across all six faces and four corners of the device, even when dropped on hard marble surfaces.

The device incorporates three sophisticated drop protection mechanisms to ensure maximum durability and minimize damage during accidental drops. It features Reinforced Corners, supported by a robust rhinoceros structure that adds extra stability and strengthens the overall structure of the device.

Secondly, the innovative Cushioning and Fall Protection Architecture is engineered to absorb and evenly distribute the energy from impacts, helping to prevent screen damage and resist deformation. Moreover, the Decentralized Force Design utilizes a multi-level ladder structure that effectively disperses impact forces throughout the device. This design employs multiple layers of protection that work together to distribute energy during impacts, significantly reducing the risk of damage to the device.

    Pricing and Availability

The HONOR X6b is available in two colourways – Midnight Black, and Forest Green. Starting from 1 October 2024, the HONOR X6b will be available at selected retailers and network providers for the exciting price of R3,499.
