Whilst audio quality may not be on top of your list when choosing an iPhone, it is an important spec for the likes of content creators. So for all those looking for an audio upgrade, newly leaked schematics hint that the iPhone 17 lineup could be getting a speaker revamp.
The new CAD drawings have been received courtesy of a well known source, Majin Bu, providing us with good visuals of the bottom of the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. While the standard iPhone 17 appears largely unchanged from the iPhone 16, both the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are reportedly receiving an equal number of speaker holes on each side.

As noted in the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max reviews, the current speaker configuration is asymmetrical on either side of the USB-C port. However, it looks like Apple plans to balance things out this year.
The iPhone 17 Air being a completely new model, there will be no direct comparison. However, it features just two speaker holes on each side, which could possibly be a result of Apple’s efforts to trim components and achieve its ultra-slim design.
It’s difficult to determine how this will impact the speaker configuration or audio quality based solely on schematics, but it appears that the Pro and Pro Max models might include some sound enhancements which would be widely welcome.
Previous renders suggest that all four models will have a noticeably different design from their predecessors, particularly when it comes to the camera module. iPhone 17 leaks are steadily accumulating, but that is all they are, until the phones are officially unveiled later this year.
