That’s it guys. Entries are closed, the draw has been done, and three Geekhub readers now have a considerably better plan for Friday 25 September.
After 443 entries in the final draw, we have our three winners.
Meet the winners
Congratulations to:
- Kaylesha M., who plans to go as Ichigo Kurosaki
- Sanaa C., who plans to go as Osaragi from Sakamoto Days
- Armando F., who plans to go as Monkey D. Luffy
Each winner receives a double pass for Comic Con Africa 2026 on Friday 25 September, which means six people are heading to the Johannesburg Expo Centre in Nasrec courtesy of Geekhub and Comic Con Africa.
All three winners have been contacted directly using the details submitted with their entries.
Congratulations. And if you arrive in full cosplay, we absolutely want photographic evidence.
443 entries. Three winners.
We wanted this competition to be transparent, so here are the numbers behind the draw.
A total of 251 valid entries were submitted during the competition. Every entrant received one base entry, with additional entries available for finding the three code words hidden inside Geekhub articles.
Once those bonuses were counted, the final draw contained 443 entries.
And some of you took the code hunt very seriously.
Sixty-one people found all three code words.
That is more than we expected, particularly considering we deliberately dropped them into ordinary sentences rather than putting up a giant flashing sign saying, “THE CODE IS HERE.”
We also applied some common sense when checking them.
If you found the right code but misspelled it, you still received the bonus entry. The idea was to reward people who actually found and read the article, not run a spelling bee.
If you submitted the wrong code, you still kept your normal entry. The codes were always there to improve your chances, never to disqualify you.
So how did we pick the winners?
The final pool was shuffled and drawn using a recorded random seed, with the process witnessed by someone independent of Geekhub. We have retained the complete entry pool and draw results.
If you entered and want to know where your entry landed in the draw, email us and we will tell you.
Didn’t win? Comic Con is eleven days away.
Unfortunately, 186 entrants didn’t get their names pulled. We would have happily taken all of you, but we suspect Comic Con Africa might have had something to say about us requesting another 186 double passes.
The good news is that there is still time to make a plan.
Four-day passes and Saturday was already sold out on Howler the last time we checked.
Friday remains particularly interesting because it gives you the full announced guest roster without Saturday’s expected crowds.
Christopher Judge and Richard T Jones arrive from Friday, while the Rick and Morty and One Piece casts are appearing through Saturday. That makes Friday and Saturday the only two days where every announced guest is scheduled to be at the show.
And one of those days is already gone.
Before buying anything, read our Comic Con Africa 2026 Survival Guide. We’ve put together everything we wish somebody had told us before our first Comic Con: which day makes sense, guest schedules, parking and transport, cosplay prop rules, what you can and cannot bring, the smart-glasses ban, food, Artist Alley and what a day at Nasrec realistically costs.
Read that first. Then buy the ticket.
A quick warning about competition scams
Whenever prizes are involved, scammers inevitably crawl out of whatever dark corner of the internet they normally inhabit.
So remember this:
Geekhub will never ask you to pay to receive a competition prize.
We will not ask for a “release fee”, delivery payment, OTP, banking password or anything similar. Winners are contacted using the information supplied when entering, and we announce their names on Geekhub.
If someone contacts you claiming to represent us and something feels off, do not send them anything. Contact Geekhub directly and check with us first.
And finally, thank you
To everyone who entered, thank you.
To the 61 people who hunted down all three codes, we admire the commitment.
And to Comic Con Africa, thank you for giving us the tickets to put into the hands of Geekhub readers.
There will be more competitions. We’ll keep putting them on our competitions page when they go live.
For now, congratulations again to Kaylesha, Sanaa and Armando.
Charge the power banks. Wear comfortable shoes. Leave some money for Artist Alley.
We’ll see you at Nasrec.
