Model Presley Gerber, the son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, has died at the age of 27. His family has asked for privacy as authorities work to establish the cause of his death.
Presley Gerber, model and eldest child of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, has died at the age of 27.
Gerber died on Sunday, 20 September, at a rehabilitation facility in California, according to records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. His death was also confirmed by a representative for the Gerber family.
At the time of writing, a cause of death had not been announced. Reports indicate that an autopsy had yet to be completed, making any speculation around the circumstances of his death premature.
A family representative issued a brief statement following the news, saying the Gerber family was asking for privacy during what it described as an extremely difficult time.
Following the family into fashion
Born in Beverly Hills in 1999, Presley grew up inside one of fashion’s most recognisable families.
His mother, Cindy Crawford, became one of the defining supermodels of the 1980s and 1990s, while his younger sister Kaia Gerber has built her own successful career across modelling and acting.
Presley also entered the fashion industry while still young, working as a model and appearing on runways and in campaigns for major fashion houses.
But despite being born into a family associated with glossy magazine covers, red carpets and celebrity culture, Gerber had increasingly spoken publicly about the less polished parts of his life.
In recent years, he discussed his experiences with mental health challenges, recovery and substance-use problems, saying that he hoped speaking openly about what he had gone through might help other people facing similar difficulties. He also used social media to share conversations around mental health and recovery.

Family asks for space
Gerber was the only son of Crawford and Rande Gerber, who married in 1998, and the older brother of Kaia.
For now, his family has released no further details surrounding his death, and authorities have not announced an official cause.
