The Johannesburg tattoo studio is opening its doors at 59 4th Avenue on 5 December, with two guest artists, original flash designs and a housewarming event celebrating its new home in the neighbourhood.
Ikigai Tattoo Studio is settling into a new home in Linden, Johannesburg, and will be opening its doors to the neighbourhood on Saturday, 5 December.
The move brings the studio closer to a growing local audience and gives Linden residents an opportunity to get to know the artists, explore the new space and experience what Ikigai has been building.
Founded by tattoo artist Heath, Ikigai has built its reputation around thoughtful, custom tattooing and a considered approach to the craft. The new space marks an exciting next chapter for the studio, with a focus on creating somewhere people can feel comfortable, meet the artists and spend time around good work.
To celebrate, Ikigai is hosting a housewarming and flash day featuring Heath and two guest artists from Pretoria. Visitors can expect original flash designs, walk-ins and pre-booked appointments, as well as a few surprises made possible through partnerships with local businesses.
There will also be prizes up for grabs, including a half-day tattoo voucher valued at R4,000 as the grand prize.
“We’ve put a lot into making this space feel like somewhere people want to spend time, not just come in for an appointment and leave.
We’re looking forward to meeting more people in Linden, getting to know the businesses around us and making the studio part of the neighbourhood. The housewarming is really just our way of opening the doors and inviting people in,” says Heath, founder and lead artist at Ikigai Tattoo Studio.
The event is open to the public, with both walk-ins and bookings available, subject to availability. Members of the media are welcome to attend, meet the artists, take a look around the new studio and speak to Heath about the move and the work behind Ikigai.
