Huawei Executive reveals Mate 70 Pro + in a playful video

With the official launch of Huawei’s flagship Mate 70 series just around the corner, excitement is really starting to build in China. Huawei’s previous generation Mate 60 series, really stuck it to the U.S by demonstrating Huawei’s in-house advanced chipset capabilities. It seems like they are now ready for round two.

Remember the teaser Huawei dropped last week, showing off the sleek curves of the Mate 70 series? Well, as reported by Huawei Central the company’s chairman, Yu Chengdong, just gave fans a closer look at the Mate 70 Pro+.

In a video shared on his WeChat account, Yu Chengdong unveiled the Mate 70 Pro+ in a stunning new color: Gold and Silver Brocade. This isn’t your average smartphone finish – In typical Huawei style, the back panel features a diagonally brushed pattern that shimmers under the light, reminiscent of intricate brocade fabric.

The camera module, housed in a giant circular cutout, is surrounded by a thick silver rim, for a touch of elegance. And of course, there’s the iconic XMAGE branding, reminding us of Huawei’s photography capabilities.

Yu Chengdong also gave us a glimpse of the phone’s side profile, revealing an enlarged power button that likely houses a fingerprint sensor. But in a classic “tease and reveal” move, he kept the front of the phone hidden, leaving everyone speculating about its design. Early rumours suggest a three-hole punch design and a quad-curved display, similar to its predecessor.

“Many people wanted to see if I showed my phone at the auto show,” Yu Chengdong teased in the video. “Everyone is particularly looking forward to what the Mate 70 looks like. Today I will not hide it and show it to everyone.” (Translation Credit: Huawei Central)

The Mate 70 Pro+ is expected to pack some serious power under the hood. Rumors suggest a Kirin 9100 chipset, an upgraded camera system with a 60MP main sensor, and the latest HarmonyOS Next. We haven’t heard anything from Huawei South Africa regarding a local launch for the Mate 70 series, but considering we didn’t see the Mate 60 series arrive locally, we’re not getting our hopes up.
